When Will Dish And Fox Come To An Agreement

While Nexstar continues to hope that a solution can be found today, Nexstar intends to actively educate consumers in affected markets on how to continue receiving their favorite networking programs, in-depth local news, other content and programs relevant to their communities, and critical updates in the event of an emergency. The deadline for a new agreement is 7 p.m.m local time (5 p.m.m PT) on Wednesday. If no deal is reached, it could mean that Dish`s more than 9 million satellite customers will lose access. The agreement ensures that DISH Network viewers will continue to have access to Fox`s national and regional live coverage of major sporting events such as the Major League Baseball World Series, the NFL on FOX, the NBA, the NHL, college football and basketball, as well as popular entertainment programs on FOX such as Glee, House and The Simpsons; Sons of Anarchy and It`s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on FX; and the border wars and major migrations to come on the National Geographic Channel. AT&T and broadcaster Tegna were also unable to reach a new deal on Tuesday, resulting in the loss of more than 60 stations on DirecTV, AT&T U-verse and streaming service AT&T TV. Nexstar Media Group (NASDAQ: NXST) is a leading diversified media company that uses localism to deliver new services and value to consumers and advertisers through its traditional, digital and mobile media platforms. The wholly-owned operating subsidiary Nexstar Inc. consists of three divisions: Broadcasting, Digital and Networks. The Broadcasting Division operates, programs or provides sales and other services for 197 television stations and related digital multicast signals that reach 115 markets, or approximately 39% of all U.S. television households (reflecting the FCC`s UHF discount). The division`s portfolio includes major subsidiaries of NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, MyNetworkTV and The CW. The digital division operates 122 local websites and 316 mobile apps that deliver hyperlocal and vertical content to consumers and advertisers, allowing audiences to choose where, when and how to access content, creating new revenue opportunities for the company. The Networks division operates WGN America, a growing national cable network for general entertainment that houses NewsNation, the antenna TV multicast network and WGN Radio in Chicago.

Nexstar also holds a 31.3% stake in TV Food Network, a world-class cable asset. For more information, please visit www.nexstar.tv. KTLA, a subsidiary of the Los Angeles CW, said on the website Keepmystation.com/ktla if the contract “is not renewed with a new agreement, DISH may remove KTLA from your schedule.” Nexstar responded the next day with its own press release, saying Dish is “willing to take its subscribers hostage instead of making a deal with Nexstar and other broadcasters.” In DISH`s statement on its intention to block subscribers from their local and network programs and content provided by Nexstar, the satellite provider did not acknowledge that the expiring agreement with Nexstar was concluded at the end of 2016. As a result, over the past four years, DISH has reaped the benefit of paying Nexstar significantly as part of the market retransmission consent fee while consistently introducing rate increases for its subscribers. .
